July 2017 saw the first two public events at Rogers Experimental House. Our Open House and volunteer clean-up day offered friends a first opportunity to see the pop-up space, included the assembly of our incredible sixteen-foot diameter work table donated by Hufft of Kansas City, and gave the space a much needed cleaning. We removed about a mile of networking cable, and made great progress toward prepping the space to host our future public events. Many thanks to the community members that came by to check it out and pitch in!
Our second gathering, Fix-It Cafe, was spearheaded by volunteers Justin and Amanda Hart. Community members were invited to bring by broken electronics, small appliances, and other items for our team of engineers and tinkerers to attempt fixing. A majority of items that came in broken, left the Experimental House with their owners fixed, including pruning scissors, a vintage radio, a toaster, a table lamp, a chandelier, a record turntable, and a 300 disc CD changer among others.
